BEYONCÉ: *Lemonade* Is This Century’s Greatest Female Album
Written by KingCnote on September 23, 2020
Rolling Stone magazine updated their 500 greatest albums list. The rankings are based on a compilation of lists from critics, musicians and producers. They believe the Boomer’s music collection from the ’60s and ’70s still rules.
Of note are the newest entries. Rolling Stone declared Beyoncé, Amy Winehouse and Taylor Swift as the best women singers of this century. Beyoncé has two albums on the Rolling Stone list: Beyoncé (#81) and Lemonade (#32) ranks just above Amy Winehouse’s breakthrough album Back to Black (#33). And Taylor Swift with Red (#99).
Three albums released in 2019 albums also made the cut: Harry Styles (Fine Line #491), Lana Del Rey (Norman [Freaking] Rockwell #321) and Billie Eilish (When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? #397)
Rolling Stone might have inflated Kanye West’s ego — if that was possible. The magazine ranked six of his nine albums among the 500 greatest. Of the entirety of music ever created, Ye made more than one percent! (Rolling Stone)
