JUSSIE SMOLLETT: Chicago Mayor Calls Dropped Charges a “Whitewash of Justice.”

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has called prosecutors dropping all the charges against Jussie Smollett a “whitewash of justice.”
Emanuel says it “sends a clear message that if you’re in a position of influence and power, you’ll be treated one way, and if you’re not, you’ll be treated another way.”
He hinted at corruption in the State’s Attorney’s Office, adding, “From top to bottom, this is not on the level.”
Joseph Magats, the First Assistant to the Cook County State Attorney, said prosecutors dropped the charges because the Empire star doesn’t have a history of violent crime — and filing a false police report is not a violent crime.
Magats added that he does believe Smollett faked his hate crime and that they had enough evidence for a conviction.
